Unit 9 - Activity 4: Ask the PLN - tech tools and or games for language learners

Ask the PLN: Tech Tools and/or Games for Language Learners (Recommended Time: 30 min)

There is no doubt that digital literacy is no longer optional, neither for learners nor for their teachers. Being able to use technology in the classroom is one of the employability skills for teachers. However, we also know that technology changes at an incredible fast pace which leads us to the question: How can teachers keep up with the ever-changing tech?
One possible answer is to be selective. Do not use technology for the sake of it, but use it purposefully, to optimize learning and to allow for collaborations or connections that otherwise would not be possible. Therefore, before selecting a tech tool to be used in the classroom, always ask the following questions...
  • Why use it?
  • How can it enhance learning in my class?
  • Can learners use it outside of class to expand their learning opportunities?

Research
In this activity, we would like to invite you to investigate tech tools and games that can be used to enhance language learning. As always, you can do this by reaching out to your PLN (do not forget to use hashtags, such as #CDNELT #LINCchat #ELTchat to amplify your reach) or researching online. Please share your findings on the discussion forum.
