  1. Learning and Teaching in the 21st Century (Recommended Time: 45 min)

    As we already know, there are various reasons why our learners need English. Whether it is for the purposes of continuing their education, finding or maintaining employment, or integrating in their new communities, to be successful language learners need to be able to use the language as it is required by the tasks and realities of today's world outside of the classroom. So, let's stop for a moment and think about what our world looks like today. What devices do we use? What tasks do we have to complete in school, workplace and at home? What skills do we require to do this?

    Check out How to Become a Better 21st Century Teacher Infographic. Go through each of the ideas and think of where in the process you are at this moment. What are your strengths, and what are some areas for you to work on and/or investigate in the near future? How important is each of them in your context? Is there anything you would add to this list?
